Or: Peter Sklar Saves Kids from the Biggest Scam in Showbiz
Any of my peeps out there who want to add their own thoughts here, feel free. This is my first blog. Ever. Really. And all I’m trying to do is find a variety of ways to save kids from falling victim to the biggest scam out there. What scam? Believing that if you just have the right look, if you have enough talent and desire, and if you meet the right people, etc., you’ll be successful. Really? Nope! This blog is to communicate an essential, time-tested Peter Sklar message. You know, basically Pdawg’s Famous & Wise Sayings…. Practice being aware of how you feel about you, eat healthy, stay single until you’re 25, and don’t ever let anyone convince you to find something “practical to fall back on”. These are the cornerstones of marketability; (that means employment as a performer). All the other stuff- taking classes, getting an agent, having a headshot/resume, etc. etc. is easy. Everyone gets those things right. Truly successful people however learn at some point in their careers that getting hired has everything to do with being happy and healthy. It really is that simple. Of course, becoming happy and healthy may not always be that simple. But that, people, is what it takes. Not talent, training, looks, desire, connections, and a good agent- everybody’s got all that stuff, and there’s still a 98% unemployment rate in this business.
